Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Installation Layout In a typical return-style EFI fuel system, fuel flows from the fuel tank through the fuel pump to the fuel rail. The adjustable fuel pressure regulator is installed after the fuel rail whenever possible, allowing excess fuel to return to the tank while maintaining stable rail pressure. Connect the regulator’s vacuum/boost reference port to the intake manifold and verify that the inlet, return line and base pressure setting match your fuel system requirements. Professional installation is strongly recommended. Before starting the engine, confirm the fuel-flow direction, use fuel-compatible hoses and fittings, secure all connections and inspect the complete system for leaks.
