Linen Fabric for Clothing Our linen fabric collection is carefully curated to bring you a choice of linen fabrics for clothing, linen cloth blended with other fibres like linen and cotton blends or linen and viscose which provides additional drape compared with a pure linen. Linen can be made from 100% linen or mixed with other fibres which often makes it more affordable. Cotton Linen Fabric This blend of linen and cotton is perfect for dressmakers as it provides the look and feel of linen with the drape of cotton without so much of the creasing which we associate with 100% linen. Both cotton and linen are great breathable summer fabrics so the blend of both works really well for summer garments. What is Linen Fabric Made From? Linen fabric is a durable, breathable textile made from the flax plant—a 100% natural and sustainable fibre that has been used for thousands of years. Ideal for dressmaking, home décor, and furnishings, linen softens with age and becomes less prone to creasing, making it perfect for garments and projects that improve over time. As a zero-waste plant, flax requires less water and fewer pesticides than cotton, and untreated linen is fully biodegradable. Many of our washed linens for dressmaking also meet the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, ensuring they are free from harmful substances and safe for everyday use.
