A master of the industrial arts, Heikka Orvola chose to focus his craft in glass, ceramics, cast iron and textiles. On the receiving end for many awards and prizes for his work, he won one of Finland’s most prestigious design award in 1998, the Kaj Franck Award. The Kivi glass votive holders, the Aika Dinnerware Collection, the Arabia 24H Dinnerware Collection and the Carambola vases are among his popular creations for iittala. Orvola maintains a clean modern look to every piece which continues to appeal to mass audiences.
