Heta Vajavaara

Heta Vajavaara is a visual artist and designer, specializing in weaving, textiles and garment-making. She completed her master’s degree in Fashion, Collection and Textile Design department at Aalto University, and later trained and worked in weaving mills in Japan and Italy. Heta describes her approach to weaving as both mathematical and material oriented: "I’m very hands-on—I need to get a concrete feel, to twirl the yarn in my hands," says Heta. She currently works with textiles and garments for interior, product, art and fashion from her studio in Helsinki, Finland.
