Shoulder rest sizing guide Shoulder rests are sized to fit the instrument, and most models cover two or three sizes. Check the size options on each product before you buy. 1/16 to 1/4 violins: choose a small rest marked 1/16-1/4 or 1/8-1/4, such as the Kun Mini Collapsible (1/16-1/4), FOM (1/16-1/4) or Kun Original (1/8-1/4). 1/2 and 3/4 violins: choose a 1/2-3/4 rest, such as the Kun Original, Kun Super, Kun Collapsible or Everest in 1/2-3/4. 3/4 and 4/4 (full size) violins: choose a 3/4-4/4 or 4/4 rest, such as the Kun Original, Everest, FOM or Wolf in 3/4-4/4. A 3/4 violin can take either a 1/2-3/4 or a 3/4-4/4 rest, depending on the model. Violas: viola rests are sized in inches. Our Everest, Wolf and First Strings viola rests fit 15" to 16.5" violas, the Kun Original and Kun Collapsible viola rests fit 15" to 17", and the PSR rest fits 12" to 15" violas.
