How to Choose Weight Plate Storage Peg size: Olympic plates have a 50mm centre hole and need Olympic-size pegs; standard plates have a smaller hole. Check the product page to make sure the pegs suit your plates. Plate thickness: bumper plates are much thicker than iron plates, so check how many fit on each peg or in each slot. Upright bumper racks store them on edge so they roll in and out. Load rating: add up the plates you own and compare the total with the rated capacity on the product page. Barbell storage: trees with vertical bar holders keep one to four barbells next to your plates in the same footprint. Fixed or mobile: castors let you roll a loaded rack to the platform or out of the way; fixed trees with rubber feet stay put. Load evenly: spread plates across both sides of a tree as you load and unload so it stays stable.
