Weightlifting Belts | Leather, Lever, Neoprene & Dip Belts Lifting Belts and Dipping Belts from Morgan Sports, Sting, Vantage Strength and Fitness Hero A weightlifting belt gives your core a firm wall to brace against on heavy squats, deadlifts and presses. You take a breath, tighten your midsection into the belt and hold that brace through the rep. Most lifters wear one for their heaviest working sets rather than for warm-ups or light accessory work. This range covers flexible neoprene and EVA belts for general gym and cross-training, traditional suede and split leather belts with prong or roller buckles, 10mm lever belts for powerlifting, and dipping belts that let you add plates to dips and pull-ups. We stock belts from Morgan Sports, Sting, Vantage Strength and our own Fitness Hero range. How to Choose a Weightlifting Belt Belt type: neoprene and EVA belts with a Velcro strap are light and flexible, which suits Olympic lifts, circuits and high-rep training. Leather belts are firmer to brace against on squats and deadlifts. Lever belts are the stiffest option and lock at the same tension every time, which is why many powerlifters use them. Width: a 10cm (4 inch) belt is the all-round choice and clears the ribs and hips on most torsos. Wider 15cm (6 inch) belts give more coverage at the back for heavy training. Powerlifting federations generally cap belt width at 10cm, so check your federation's rules before you compete in a wide belt. Closure: Velcro adjusts in one pull, a prong or roller buckle locks into set holes, and a lever clamps shut and releases in a second between sets. Sizing: measure around your waist where the belt will sit, usually around the navel, not your pants size. If you are between sizes, check the size chart on the product page. Dip belts: look at the chain length and the clips. A longer chain lets plates hang clear of your legs, and carabiners or a D-shackle make loading quick.
