A lifting strap, or weightlifting wrist strap, is designed to provide support for your wrists and enhance your grip on weights. Made from a variety of materials like leather, cotton, or nylon, wrist straps loop around your wrists and the bar, helping you confidently lift heavier weights during your workouts. They delay the point of exhaustion which means you get more out of every set! Proper Usage of Weight Lifting Straps The first thing to consider when using lifting straps is wearing them correctly. This might sound simple but not following the correct guidelines can have some pretty undesirable consequences. Follow our handy guide on how to wear lifting straps: Make a loop. You can do this by taking the strap’s end and feeding it through the loop at the other end to make a larger loop. Wrap your hand. Place one hand through the loop you’ve formed. Make sure the band is laying flat against the back of your hand/wrist. Pull the strap tight, allowing any excess length to hang down from your palm between your thumb and forefinger. Wrap around the weight. Take your chosen weight in the wrapped hand and loop the excess length around the bar in a double overhand loop. Pull it tight to secure it and grip the bar. Now you’ve got your grip sorted, you can lift weights as you normally would, but with the added benefits of the straps extending your endurance and reducing your grip fatigue, enabling you to push further and aim higher!
