Alex Gordon is one of the most beloved players in Kansas City Royals history. The #2 overall pick of the 2005 MLB Draft out of Nebraska, he spent his entire 14-year MLB career in a Royals uniform, retiring after the 2020 season as a three-time All-Star, eight-time Gold Glove winner (the franchise record at any position), and a 2015 World Series champion who was a key piece of one of the most fun teams of the modern era. His most iconic moment came in the bottom of the ninth of Game 1 of the 2015 World Series — Gordon launched a game-tying solo home run off Mets closer Jeurys Familia to send the game to extra innings, eventually sparking a Royals win that set the tone for the entire series. That swing alone made him a Kansas City legend forever. He converted from third base to left field early in his career and became one of the elite defensive corner outfielders of his era — his 2014 Platinum Glove (the best defender at any position in the league) is a rare accolade for an outfielder.
