From the beginning, they have tinkered, tested, and innovated to build gear that is unique, durable, and thoughtfully created - and they’ve repeatedly turned outdoor gear conventions upside down. The EXPED story began with the personal outdoor experiences of Heidi and Andi Brun. In 1981, the Swiss adventurers lived in the northern Canadian wilderness for nine months, spending the long winter in a log cabin built with their own hands. Hunting, fishing, and gathering plants allowed them to subsist directly from, and in balance with, nature. Improvising in their everyday life with minimal resources and the freedom this approach allowed, inspired them to get involved in the development of functional outdoor gear. The EXPED brand is the direct result of this dream-come-true adventure.
