Why Upgrade Your Audi Intercooler The turbo in your Audi makes heat, and hot intake air steals power from the engine, inviting timing pulls to occur. The factory intercooler is sized for stock output, so once you tune the car or push it hard for sustained stretches, it heat-soaks and power fades the longer you drive. An upgraded intercooler runs a larger, more efficient core with better airflow to keep intake temps down, so your car makes the same strong power on the last pull as the first.
