Jerry Garcia is nothing short of a legend. The frontman for the Grateful Dead for their entire thirty-year run, he was viewed by many as the unofficial spokesman for the band. By extension, he became a symbol of the 1960s counterculture movement that the Grateful Dead embodied. Jerry was a pillar of American culture for generations, and his artwork allows us a glimpse into the visionary mind of one of our most iconic musical talents. His art ranges from the playful to the profound, depending on Jerry’s mood and where he was in his life. At Grassroots, it’s a privilege to be able to bring you this collection, featuring original artwork by Jerry Garcia himself. We’ve been working in close collaboration with his daughter, Trixie Garcia, during the design and production process to ensure that his style and vision are properly honored. Jerry may have left us over 20 years ago, but his legacy lives on.
