An electric chainsaw is easiest to choose by starting with the job. For general cutting at ground level, such as cutting branches or preparing manageable logs, a cordless chainsaw gives the familiar two-handed handheld format. For pruning above normal working height, a dedicated saw on pole provides the reach needed for higher branches. If your work also includes tall hedges, a pole saw combined with a hedge-trimmer attachment can cover two long-reach garden tasks with one system. A mini chainsaw is more compact for lighter pruning, smaller branches and places where a full-size saw would be awkward to handle.
