The Fate series is a Japanese media franchise by TYPE-MOON that began with Fate/stay night (February 2004). The stories vary with each installment but revolve around the Holy Grail Wars. Humans, known as Masters, summon beings called Servants to fight for them. Servants are legendary figures, known as Heroic Spirits. Together, the Master and Servant fight against other pairs for the Holy Grail, which grants them one wish.
