A rescue knife only gets used in the worst moment — cutting a rope or lanyard one-handed, under load, without a sharp point that risks injuring whoever is deploying it. The Petzl Spatha is built for exactly that: a blunt-tip curved hawkbill blade cuts rope cleanly, and an integrated slot on the spine lets you cut one-handed even from a compromised position.
