How do wireless IEMs work? You can think of wireless IEMs as a speaker and transmitter in one compact package. Wireless IEMs or TWS share pretty much the same makeup as far as drivers and shell design go. The only difference is that TWS have a small circuit board and antenna in each earbud , which enables wireless connections via Bluetooth through your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Wireless IEMs connect in two ways - Master and Slave connection or through a Simultaneous connection. In a Master/Slave connection, the source device transmits audio to one earbud (master) and then forwards the data to the other earbud (slave). In Simultaneous connection, both earbuds connect to the source device at the same time. The source device transmits data to both earbuds, creating a wireless stereo environment. For both connection types, Bluetooth is the primary wireless connection protocol used for wireless IEMs and TWS. Manufacturers will employ the latest Bluetooth technologies to ensure high-bandwidth and high-speed transmission for the best audio quality . Wireless in-ear monitors were notorious for having inferior sound. The limitations posed by wireless connections meant wireless IEMs could not stream full-resolution audio, leaving out details in your music. With modern wire
