Records indicate that Mitsumata was used in paper making as early as 614, known for its use by the Japanese government because of it's fine fibers and insect repelling qualities. Cultivation began 200 years ago in Japan, blooming every spring. Mitsumata has the shortest fiber (out of Kozo & Gampi) and yields smooth, dense papers great for parchment like papers.
