Capacitors help single-phase motors start and run. They are common replacement parts for water pumps, air compressors, aircon units, fans and other motor-driven equipment. How to choose a capacitor Start or run: a starting capacitor gives the motor a short boost at start-up. A running capacitor stays in the circuit while the motor runs. They are not interchangeable. Rating: match the microfarad (uF) value of the old capacitor, and use a voltage rating that is the same or higher, such as 250V for start or 450V for run. Connection: choose cable or pin terminals to match your wiring. The MT dual voltage capacitor is made for air compressors.
