Circuit Breaker

About

Circuit breakers protect wiring and equipment by cutting power when there is an overload or short circuit. Electricians, contractors and building owners use them in homes, offices, commercial spaces and industrial panels. This collection includes plug-in and bolt-on breakers, miniature circuit breakers (MCBs), molded case breakers (MCCBs), residual current breakers (RCCBs), motor protection and air circuit breakers from Chint, Royu, Sassin and Omni, plus circuit breaker finders. How to choose a circuit breaker Type: plug-in and bolt-on breakers fit residential panel boards. MCBs mount on DIN rails in modern consumer units. MCCBs and air circuit breakers protect main feeders and larger loads. Ampere rating and poles: match the rating to the wire size and load, and use 1-pole, 2-pole or 3-pole to suit the circuit. 3-pole breakers are for three-phase supply. Breaking capacity (kA): this is the fault current a breaker can safely interrupt, such as 4.5kA, 6kA or 10kA for MCBs. Earth leakage protection: an RCCB trips when current leaks to ground, adding protection against electric shock.
