About

Diesel generators provide standby and prime power for homes, offices, stores, farms, construction sites and industrial plants. Diesel engines are suited to long running hours, which makes them a common choice for backup power during outages and for sites without grid power. How to choose a diesel generator Size (kVA or kW): add up the wattage of what you need to run, including the higher starting load of motors, pumps and aircon units. Leave some spare capacity. Open or silent type: open-frame units are lighter and cost less for job sites. Silent (canopy) types, such as the Bravus DG15000BR and Ingco GSE10500-5P, reduce noise for homes and businesses. ATS: an automatic transfer switch, available on Bravus BDG and DG10000BR models, starts the generator and switches the load when grid power fails. Phase and voltage: most homes use single phase. Factories and large buildings may need three-phase power, so check the specifications before ordering. Welding generators: units such as the Powerhouse PHWMG-7500E and JR Kawasaki JRKDWG280AMP combine a generator with a welder for remote sites.
