About
By Sheva Knopfler , Creative Director . Hanging height, size, and clearance Hang a dining room chandelier 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop when the ceiling is 8 feet, and add about 3 inches for every additional foot of ceiling height above that. Size the fixture by adding the room's length and width in feet to get the diameter in inches, or keep the chandelier width between one half and two thirds of the table width. A 10 by 14 foot room lands near a 24 inch chandelier, and a 72 inch rectangular table takes a 36 to 48 inch fixture or a linear chandelier running one third to two thirds of the table length. Leave at least 7 feet of clearance from the floor to the bottom of any fixture, and 6 inches of clearance between the fixture edge and the table edge. Choose 2700K to 3000K warm white bulbs with a CRI of 90 or higher so food and skin read naturally, and put every dining fixture on a dimmer so the room can flex from roughly 3,000 to 4,000 lumens at dinner service down to low ambient for late conversation. Plan for about 30 to 40 lumens per square foot across the center fixture, buffet sconces, and any perimeter recessed cans. This collection covers drum chandeliers, candle-style chandeliers, tiered crystal chandeliers, linear pendants, cluster pendants, lantern chandeliers, sputnik chandeliers, and wagon wheel chandeliers in matte black, aged brass, oil-rubbed bronze, polished nickel, and champagne gold. Shade options run seeded glass, smoked glass, alabaster, linen, rattan, and capiz shell. Filter by style for Transitional, Modern, Contemporary, Mid-Century, and Traditional, and by ceiling height and table length.
