Intermatic makes time controls, load management and surge protection for residential, commercial and industrial electrical systems. The range here covers spring-wound countdown timers in commercial and decorator styles rated 125 to 277 VAC in SPDT and DPST configurations, electronic countdown timers with and without hold, 24-hour electromechanical defrost timers, water heater time switches, photocontrols, and surge protective devices such as the AG3000G for 240 VAC single-phase outdoor service. Replacement parts including insulators, battery trays and RC snubber noise filters are stocked alongside them, from about $4. Selecting a timer comes down to three things: supply voltage, switch configuration, and whether you need a hold function. A DPST unit switches both legs of a 240V load, while SPDT gives you a changeover contact. Hold lets the load stay on indefinitely, which is wanted on a shop exhaust fan and specifically unwanted on a bathroom fan where the point is that it shuts itself off.
