A 6x6 closure is a hairpiece with a lace base measuring 6 inches by 6 inches — 36 square inches of parting space, compared with 25 on a 5x5 and 16 on a 4x4. The hair is hand-tied to the lace so the part can be set anywhere inside that square. It sits at the crown to close off a sew-in or to finish a wig, and once it is blended the hair looks like it is growing from the scalp. Why are these 6x6 closures HD lace only? Because of the size. HD lace is thinner and finer than standard transparent lace, so it disappears against the scalp instead of sitting on top of it. On a 4x4 you can get away with transparent lace — there is not much surface to hide. On a 6x6 there are 36 square inches of it, and any lace that is not truly undetectable will show at the edges.
