Since 2007, designers Rafael Kalichstein and Joshua Rose have brought sensitivity and sophistication to projects across the United States. Originally operating as FORM Design Studio, the partners developed a holistic approach to design that established the firm as a leading voice in the field. Drawing from their diverse backgrounds—Rafael, a former practitioner of holistic medicine; Joshua, an Emmy Award–winning designer—their work reflects a thoughtful, integrated approach to creative practice. In 2023, the studio became Citizen Artist, a name that reflects both an aspirational ideal and a tribute to Kalichstein’s late father, pianist Joseph Kalichstein, himself a supreme citizen artist. With this evolution, the firm continues to create work guided by purpose and craft, led by Kalichstein and Rose alongside a growing international team committed to the Citizen Artist mission.
