An alumnus of the prestigious Institute of Mural Painting Guruvayur, one of the pioneering institutions dedicated to this art form in Kerala, Jijulal has established himself as a significant figure in the preservation and creation of Kerala murals. Jijulal embarked on his journey in art conservation in 2003, beginning with the murals at the Ananthapuram temple in Kasargod. His dedication and skill led him to undertake the challenging restoration of the faded mural work within the temple's main structure. His significant contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades, including a Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture. Notably, in 2007 and 2011, UNESCO honored him with the Asia Pacific Heritage award for his exceptional work in heritage conservation, specifically in the field of painting conservation. Beyond conservation, Jijulal is an accomplished exhibiting artist. He has showcased his work in numerous exhibitions across various cities in India. His art also gained international exposure at the International Painting Exhibition during the Jaipur International Art Festival in Rajasthan. In 2013-14, he participated in the Kerala Lalith Kala Academy State Exhibition, followed by a solo exhibition in 2014 sponsored by the Department of Culture. His artistic reach extends globally, with exhibitions held at the GAIA Gallery in Brooklyn, USA, and at the Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu in 2017. Furthermore, he participated in an International Mural Painting Camp in Kottayam, organized by the Department of Culture under the Government of Kerala.
