Léon Born in Nantes, 1986. He copied Peanuts as a child—not for love of Snoopy, but because the doghouse, the typewriter, the skateboard had clean lines to trace. In 2020, locked down in a Paris apartment, he began pasting comic pages onto canvas, scribbling over text with pencil. Paint dripped. He didn’t wipe it. He let it run. He called it Snoopy’s Notebook , sent it to three friends, and wrote: “Don’t laugh. I’m just practicing.” Every piece has a mistake—on purpose. A collector bought #19. That evening, he sat on his balcony, smoking, thinking: “Now I need to buy more white.”
