About

Night lights for nurseries and kids' rooms, from soft rechargeable lamps a toddler can carry to bed through to the large Mr Maria pieces that double as a statement light in the room. Every light here has a genuine low "night mode" setting, not just an on/off switch, so you can leave it running through the night without lighting up the whole room. Which type suits your child? Rechargeable portable lamps (First Light range, roughly 21–30cm). Made from BPA-free silicone with a soft outer shell, charged by USB, with six brightness settings including a sleep mode. There's no cord in use, so they can sit on a low shelf or be carried to bed. As a safety measure they don't operate while charging, so charge during the day. Available as Miffy, Snoopy, Snuffy, Boris, Lion, Peppa Pig, Elephant and Monkey, plus Mira, Rena and Nova. Mains-powered lamps (Star Light 36–50cm and XL 80cm). Moulded polyethylene with a touch dimmer cord and six brightness settings including night mode. These are lamps first and nursery decor second: the XL at 80cm reads as a floor lamp. An Australian adaptor is included and they carry a two-year warranty. Projectors and plush lights. Projectors throw a pattern across the ceiling, which suits older toddlers settling themselves. Plush lights combine a soft toy with a gentle glow for children who want something to hold. Buying notes Newborn nursery: a dimmable mains lamp is usually the better buy, because you'll be using it for night feeds and changes rather than handing it to the baby. Toddler moving to their own room: a rechargeable First Light is easier, because they can operate it themselves and take it with them. Gifting: the First Light range is the most popular gift in this collection and arrives in Mr Maria packaging. Sizing: First Light suits a bedside table or shelf. Star Light at 36–50cm needs its own surface. XL at 80cm sits on the floor. About Mr Maria Mr Maria is a Dutch design studio founded in Amsterdam in 2006 by Jannes Hak and Lennart Bo
