Commode Chairs

About

When getting to the bathroom in time gets harder, a commode chair brings the toilet to you. We stock bedside commodes, mobile shower commode chairs and over toilet models as part of our bathroom aids range, so you or someone you love can keep a private, independent routine at home. Types of Commode Chairs Most commode chairs fall into three groups. The right one depends on where you need it most. Bedside Commode Chairs A bedside commode sits next to the bed with a removable bowl, so there's no long walk to the bathroom at night. Many look like an ordinary chair, with timber, wicker or upholstered frames that suit a bedroom. Browse our full range of bedside commodes . Shower Commode Chairs A shower commode chair is waterproof, so it can go over the toilet and then into the shower. Aluminium and stainless steel frames resist rust, and padded or open-front seats suit both jobs. See every mobile shower commode we carry. Mobile Commode Chairs with Wheels Mobile commode chairs have lockable castors, so a carer can wheel the user between bedroom, toilet and shower without extra transfers. Attendant-propelled models are pushed from behind. Tilt-in-space models lean back as a whole, which lets a carer change the user's position without lifting. How to Choose a Commode Chair Start with where it'll be used, then check these points: Seat height: feet flat on the floor, knees at about hip height. Most models adjust. Armrests: fixed arms give something to push up from. Drop or swing-away arms make side transfers easier. Bowl and lid: a removable bowl with a lid keeps cleaning quick. Space: measure doorways and the area around the toilet before ordering a mobile model. Commode Chairs for Elderly Users For older Australians, dignity matters as much as function. Look for a padded seat, a backrest and solid arms. If getting to the toilet at night is a worry, a bedside commode chair means fewer trips down a dark hallway.
