About

What is chamomile tea ? Chamomile is an extremely diverse plant – although it has a daily-like appearance and is loosely related to sunflowers and marigold, it is most commonly used as a relaxing ingredient in tea blends. Our herby, delicious chamomile tea can soothe a range of ailments and reduce anxiety – taste it and see for yourself. Noble & Sunday chamomile tea is available in a sample box, which produces 5 cups of tea, or a standard-sized loose leaf box, which yields 25 cups. What are the origins of chamomile tea ? Chamomile’s roots stretch back to ancient times – for centuries, it has been used as a healing, soothing herb both topically and in tea. In ancient Egypt, it was even used as an offering to their gods to cure illnesses. Nowadays, its main use is in tea, closely followed by in beer and wine making; it even makes the odd appearance in skincare and pharmaceutical products. The plant contains a high level of apigenin, a plant structure that binds to the GABA receptors in the brain and induces sedative effects. Chamomile tea is commonly used as a sleeping aid, a natural relaxant or a way to soothe an upset stomach. The plant’s flowers and buds are harvested during the summer months as the flowers are starting to open. The taste of chamomile tea is earthy and floral yet sweet and leaves a great aftertaste. Aside from its healing properties, chamomile tea can be used to flavour simple syrup or cocktails, mixed with water and used as a garden spray, or even to boil rice or quinoa for a unique flavour palate.
