Rich and dark like Cabernet, but with softer, rounder tannins and warmer fruit, giving plums, black cherry, pomegranate, currant and raspberry flavors with hints of sweeter fruit (cherry jam) and slight pepper. Softer tannins give this wine a chance to play well with sweet or savory dishes: roast duck, honey glazed chicken, pasta in a pomodoro sauce or medium cheeses.
