Choosing the Right Chick Feeders The best feeder depends on the age and number of chicks, the feed being offered and your brooder arrangement. Capacity matters, but accessibility is equally important: young chicks need to reach their feed comfortably without being able to climb into the feeder and contaminate or scatter its contents. Choose a low-access chick feeder for newly hatched and younger birds so starter crumb remains within comfortable reach.
