Altra, can probably claim to be the originators of the zero-drop trail shoe, which stems from founder Golden Harper, an obsessive running nerd by his own account who began by stripping back existing shoe designs by way of a toaster oven. A distinctive design language was born and carries through to this day, with a capacious toe box which allows the foot to spread as nature intended.
