The folding Opinel knife is a bonafide design classic, often imitated but rarely bettered. Still based in Savoir, the town deep in the heart of the French Alps in which they were founded, Opinel produced the first series of numbered folding knives in 1897. Just over one hundred years later, Opinel was inducted into the Larousse dictionary, cementing the brand as a symbol of craftsmanship, precision and utility.
