About

Real Colors is a range of lacquer-based model paints made by AK Interactive, often described as acrylic lacquers. AK formulates them for colour accuracy on scale models, and says they flow smoothly through an airbrush, adhere to the surface and dry to a soft satin finish. At P-Rex Hobby this is one of our largest paint collections, with single colours in both 10 ml and 17 ml bottles (check the size on each listing). Many colours are named after real-world standards such as RLM, RAL, FS and BS381C, with aircraft and armour colours for the Luftwaffe, RAF, USAAF, US Navy and USMC, the Imperial Japanese Navy, Soviet and modern Russian forces, and more. We also carry pre-matched camouflage and interior sets (for example WWII RAF, Luftwaffe, Panzer, Afrika Korps and US Navy aircraft sets), clear colours, Gloss, Satin and Flat varnish, Gun Metal and Aluminium, and the Real Colors High Compatibility Thinner in 200 ml and 400 ml. Use AK's RC701 (200 ml) or RC702 (400 ml) High Compatibility Thinner, or another thinner meant for lacquer-based paints. AK designed the High Compatibility Thinner especially for Real Colors and says it also works with other brands. Is Real Colors made for the airbrush? Yes. AK says Real Colors flows smoothly in an airbrush, adheres to the surface and dries with a soft finish. One IPMS USA reviewer had good results thinning at about 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner. Can I brush paint Real Colors? The range is designed mainly for airbrushing, but AK says its High Compatibility Thinner is also ideal for creating the right paint consistency for brush work. What fin
