How ZeroBlue Works (and Why It's Not Just Another Warm Bulb) Artificial light at night is loaded with blue wavelengths, and blue is the part of the spectrum that suppresses melatonin and signals the body that it is daytime. That is the problem ZeroBlue is built to solve. Where a standard warm bulb only dims the blue, Soraa ZeroBlue is engineered to remove it almost entirely - Soraa rates it at less than 2% blue wavelengths and about 40% fewer melanopic lumens than conventional LEDs - while still producing a true 2700K soft white with no amber tint or yellow cast. It comes in A19 at 600 lumens and BR30 at 700 lumens, both 120V on an E26 medium base, and both dimmable. Standard Warm LEDs Only Reduce Blue A standard warm LED reaches 2200K or 2700K by shifting its spectrum toward amber. The blue is still there, just less dominant, so your eyes read the light as warm while your circadian system still detects the blue signal behind it. That is why a warm-white bulb can look cozy and still leave you alert at bedtime - the color temperature changed, but the blue did not go away. How ZeroBlue Removes Blue With Violet LEDs ZeroBlue takes a different path. Instead of a blue LED behind a phosphor, it uses violet LEDs with custom phosphors that skip the blue range entirely, leaving a physical gap in the blue part of the spectrum. The result is a clean 2700K white with almost no blue for the circadian system to detect, which is how Soraa designs it to let the body's natural melatonin production stay on track through the evening. It is the difference between masking blue and actually leaving it out. True 2700K White, Not a Yellow Tint Amber sleep bulbs address the blue problem by turning the light yellow, which washes out colors and makes a room look dim and dated. ZeroBlue does not.
