Advocate is a monthly spot-on applied to the skin at the back of the neck. It is sold by weight band rather than by breed, and the pipette volume is matched to that band, so the colour on the pack is what gets the dose right. PeekAPaw stocks all six: orange and purple for cats under and over 4kg, and green, aqua, red and blue for dogs at 0-4kg, 4-10kg, 10-25kg and over 25kg. Advocate covers more than fleas. Across the range it treats fleas and flea larvae, heartworm, intestinal worms, ear mites and lice, with lungworm listed on the cat packs. What it does not cover is ticks: Advocate's own labelling states it does not protect against ticks or hydatid tapeworm, so in a paralysis tick area you will need something else. Puppies can be treated from seven weeks of age. Weigh the animal rather than estimating, and do not split a pipette or use a dog pack on a cat.
