About
Ordinary cow's milk from the fridge is not what these products are. Our cat dairy food range is built around goat milk powders and purpose-formulated milk replacers, plus a set of ready-to-serve Norm Freakshakes, and the pack tells you which of two very different jobs a product is for: rearing a kitten that cannot nurse, or giving an adult cat a milk drink as a treat or a way of getting more fluid into it. Milk replacers and everyday milk drinks are not interchangeable A milk replacer is formulated to be the sole diet of an orphaned or hand-reared kitten, with the protein, fat and taurine levels a growing kitten needs — Wombaroo Cat Milk Replacer, PetsBuddy Goatsmilk Formulated Kitten Replacement and Di-Vetelact Nutritional Milk for Animals are the products here written for that use, and each carries its own mixing and feeding instructions on the pack. Everything else is a supplementary drink for a cat that is already eating a complete diet. Hand-rearing is demanding and easy to get wrong, so if you have taken on a very young kitten, talk to a vet or a registered wildlife or foster carer about feeding and warming before you start, and follow the label rather than a recipe from the internet. Powders and ready-to-serve shakes Powders are mixed with warm water and made up fresh: Natural Animal Solutions Goat Milk Powder, Vetnex Goatmilk Powder for Dogs & Cats, PETMIMA Vitality Boost with goats milk powder, and the PetsBuddy Goatsmilk Taurine Enriched Formula for Cat. They store well and let you make up only what will be drunk in a sitting. The Norm Freakshakes are the ready-poured alternative, sold as single-serve flavours including Nine Lives, Gold Dust, Purple Haze, Alice In Wonderland, Fear & Loathing and Spirulina And Chicken Heart. Whichever format you choose, offer a small amount first — cats vary a great deal in how well they handle milk, and loose stools are the usual sign that a cat has had more than it should. Refrigerate anything made up and discard
