Water fountains: which PIXI, and the running cost All three Catit water fountains take the same triple action filter and the same quiet pump. The differences are the top and the electronics. The standard PIXI is 2.5 litres with a coloured plastic top. The stainless steel PIXI is the same 2.5 litres with a dishwasher-safe steel top, which is easier to keep clean and is the version Catit points to for cats prone to chin acne. The PIXI Smart is 2 litres, adds a UV-C clarifier and connects to the PIXI app. Two things to know before ordering: every Catit fountain needs a fresh filter roughly monthly, so treat filters as an ongoing cost rather than a one-off, and the Smart models join 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, so they will not see a 5GHz-only network. Feeders The PIXI Smart Feeder is a dry-food hopper and takes kibble up to 9mm across, so check your food first: larger dental kibble can bridge in the chute. The PIXI Smart 6-Meal Feeder uses six sealed compartments instead, so it will serve wet food and treats as well as dry. The Smart Feeder lid holds a desiccant pack, replaced every 30 days.
