Classica is a value aquarium brand covering three separate things at PeekAPaw: complete starter and kit aquariums, Saikoh goldfish and koi pellets, and — the largest part of the range — the replacement parts that keep those kits running. Spare parts are the reason most people come here Kit aquariums fail in predictable places: an impeller goes noisy, a cartridge blocks, a globe dims, a transformer dies. Classica lists parts for the Aquarium Starter Kit (foam, cartridges and impellers, split between the 12L and the 21L and 30L models), for the ECO 60 (hood rim, LED strip light, transformer), for the Pandora 508 (top filter cover and 24w globe), and foam refills for the Crystal 1 filter. Two things worth knowing before you order. First, match the tank volume, not the look of the part — the 12L and the 21L/30L impellers are different. Second, when a light is dead, try the transformer before the LED strip: it is far cheaper and far more often the cause. Changing filter media without crashing the tank In a small kit aquarium the foam and cartridge hold most of the tank's nitrifying bacteria, not just the dirt. Replacing everything at once restarts the cycle and puts the fish through an ammonia spike. Change one element, wait a fortnight, change the next — and rinse media in a bucket of old tank water rather than under the tap, because chlorine kills the colony. Food and decor Saikoh Basic and Saikoh Colour are floating pellets for goldfish and koi, the colour version carrying natural pigment sources. On the decor side there is the Bubble Curtain underwater LED and the bubbling LED volcano — both need an air pump and airline, which are not supplied with them.
