About

Equine Vit&Min (EVM) is an Australian vitamin and mineral range made by Farmalogic. Every product here does the same job — supply what a forage-based equine diet leaves short — and they differ in how hard the horse is working and what the pasture is doing to the mineral balance. You feed one of them, not several. Start with the workload. EVM Essentials is for mature horses spelling or in light to moderate work: riding horses, companions, retirees. EVM Premium Blend lifts the nutrient levels for competitive athletes, breeding stock, foals and ageing horses. EVM Omega-3 Plus is the Premium base with algae-sourced omega-3 added, and earns its extra cost only if the horse has little fresh pasture or is on an omega-6 heavy hard feed. Check the serve size when comparing prices — Omega-3 Plus feeds at 90g a day against 60g for the Premium Blend, so the packs do not last the same length of time. Then check the pasture. If your horse grazes kikuyu, buffel, setaria or another high-oxalate C4 grass, dietary calcium is being bound up before the horse can absorb it, and a standard balancer will not fix that. EVM TropiCAL Blend supplies 31.3g of calcium per serve to correct the ratio, and EVM TropiCAL Pro Blend adds vitamins and live yeast for performance, breeding and growing horses on the same pasture. If your pasture is not high-oxalate, the extra calcium is wasted and Essentials or Premium Blend is the correct choice. EVM Premium Balancer Pellets are the Premium Blend nutrition as a low-NSC lucerne pellet at 1.6% starch. They exist for horses that sift powders out of the feed bin and for fussy eaters, and they suit laminitic and insulin-resistant horses — but at 200–250g a day for a standard horse the 10kg bag empties much faster than a 20kg box of powder.
