About
This is where we keep skin and coat care supplements: oils, powders and chews sold to support coat condition and skin comfort in dogs, cats, horses and small animals. Almost everything here is fed with a meal rather than applied to the skin — shampoos and rinses live in the grooming collections. None of it is a medicine. If your pet is scratching constantly, losing fur in patches or has broken skin, book a vet appointment first and use a supplement alongside whatever they advise. Oil, powder or chew? Oils are the biggest group — salmon, algae, flaxseed, hemp seed and blended omega oils, pumped or poured over food. They let you scale the amount to body weight, but most want refrigeration once opened and they do not last forever in a warm cupboard. Powders stir through wet food and keep more easily. Chews — PAW by Blackmores Coat, Skin + Nails, and Auinpet's seaweed and lecithin chews for cats — are the tidiest option and the easiest to give as a treat, though the amount per chew is fixed, so read the label against your pet's weight. Marine, algal and plant oils Fish oils such as SalPet Tasmanian Salmon Oil and Natural Animal Solutions Salmon Omega Oil supply marine omega-3. Korure Pets algae oils are the plant-grown alternative if you would rather avoid fish, and they come in separate dog and cat versions. Flaxseed and hemp seed oils — Cen Oil, Laila & Me Hemp Seed Oil and EAC Animal Care Shine & Glide — are plant oils with a different fatty acid profile again. Blended 3, 6 & 9 products from Wonderfur and Natural Animal Solutions cover more than one source. Check the species on the label before you buy: several of these lines are formulated separately for cats.
