About

Good Boy is a British treat brand, and one of the few where a dog will usually take the treat first time without any coaxing. The range splits into named sub-ranges that are not obviously different from the packaging, so it is worth knowing which is which before you buy. What separates the sub-ranges Pawsley is the biggest part of the range and covers the softer, meatier things: chewy sticks, twists, fillets, strips and dumbbells, mostly in chicken, duck, lamb and beef. Bag sizes run from 80g up to 350g, so it is the range to buy from if a treat gets handed over most days. Superlicious is the one with vegetables and fruit worked in, chicken with broccoli and sweet potato, duck with sweet potato, turkey with brown rice and cranberry. Sticks and bones, 70g and 100g. Crunchies are small, hard and cheap, sold in 54g bags. Bites are the 65g bags of small soft squares in chicken, duck or beef. Chewables are the rawhide-free sticks, sold in packs. Training treats and evening treats are different things For training you want something small, soft and quick to eat, so the dog swallows it and looks back at you rather than settling down to chew. The 65g Bites and the Mini Bites with cheese are the right shape for that, and a 70g bag will get you through a lot of repetitions. For the treat that gets handed over at the end of the day, the bigger Pawsley sticks and fillets last longer and feel like more of an event. Buying a 320g bag of chewy twists and using them for training is an expensive way to teach a recall. The rawhide question The Chewables sticks are made without rawhide, and that is the reason a lot of people pick them. Rawhide chews soften as a dog works at them and can be swallowed in lumps, which is the part owners worry about. If that has put you off chews altogether, a rawhide-free stick is a reasonable way back in. Supervise any chew regardless of what it is made from. When another brand suits you better These are made treats rather than single-ingredient ones. I
