About

Everything on this page is held out for sale for working dogs only, which is why there's no VAT in the price. Working dog food is zero-rated where it's formulated for working dogs and sold exclusively for them: working sheepdogs, gun dogs, assistance dogs and racing greyhounds. If you're feeding a pet dog, however busy it is, our complete dry dog food range is the one to look at. Choosing between the ranges Skinners Field & Trial names its grades after the protein. Working 23 is 23% protein, for dogs out most days. Maintenance is 18%, for dogs on lighter weeks or resting through the summer. The rest of the range covers grain free, and a light and senior recipe for older dogs still going out. Autarky Working Dog is the cheaper way in per kilo, and the only range here with wet food in cans. The dry chicken is 24% protein, so slightly above Skinners' top grade for less money. Which means if you're buying purely on protein, Autarky wins. What you get with Skinners is the ability to drop a grade without changing brand, which matters if your dog's workload swings between the shooting season and the summer. Changing protein level within a range is a much easier switch than changing food altogether. Bags here run 12kg and 15kg, which suits a kennel more than a house. Worth an airtight bin if you're not getting through one inside six weeks. Starting from scratch, the Autarky chicken is the one to try first. If the work is seasonal, go Skinners and use Working 23 in the winter and Maintenance in the quiet months.
