About

Ferns make great plant friends for shady and low-light areas They dig a cool shaded position with ample moisture and humidity but dislike wet soggy feet. Ferns do well in a moist atmosphere so should be kept away from strong draughts, air conditioning (tends to dry things out a little) and sunlight through windows (can burn your babe's leaf). They grow nicely in bathrooms where the high humidity levels keep them happy. Organically rich soil please Ferns require a freely draining organically rich soil or potting mix. Some indoor gardeners find they get good results by using gentle, organic fish emulsion. Both the Nephrolepis varieties and Asplenium species like the Asplenium antiquum Leslie are frost tender but are easily grown in mild areas in a position in full shade or part-shade. If you want some variety then maybe a Fern Mixed Pack is for you. Ferns and their calming fronds may just be the healthy greenery you were searching for.
