About
Before 1942, uncirculated coins were only available upon request from the U.S. Mint. From 1942 to 1946, the Mint sold coin sets in cloth shipping bags, of which few were saved. Starting in 1947, they began releasing uncirculated coin sets particularly for collectors. These sets, known as U.S. Mint Sets, contained a regular issue coin for each denomination from both the Philadelphia and Denver mints. Learn More
