An indoor putting green is a finished product rather than a material. It arrives sized, contoured and ready to unroll, usually with breaks already built into the surface, so you are reading a putt instead of hitting the same flat stroke over and over. You need room behind the longest putt to make a stroke, and enough clearance that you are not standing against a wall. A twelve foot green in a twelve foot room is a ten foot green in practice. What goes underneath On concrete, a green laid straight down feels dead and rolls unevenly wherever the slab is not flat. A foam subfloor fixes both and is worth doing before you spend on the green itself. Common questions How fast do these roll? Most indoor greens run in the 9 to 11 stimp range. Faster reads more like a real green and is less forgiving of a decelerating stroke, which is the point. Can I leave one outside? Most finished indoor greens are not built for weather and UV.
