Most of our Commercial Varieties were developed by Randy Gardner, Ph. D., the recently retired director of N.C. State’s Mountain Crops Research Station, who wanted a series of remarkable fresh-market hybrids ideal for both the commercial grower and the home gardener. While developed in the Southeast, his varieties like “Mountain Spring,” “Carolina Gold” and “Mountain Fresh Plus” have proven their universal adaptability in many nationwide trials.
