Rooted in the traditions of Victorian carpet bedding schemes when huge glasshouses supplied annuals and tender perennials by the thousands for formal planting designs cut out of the emerald lawn, annuals and tender perennials have reappeared from their exile. Many long-forgotten treasures now join the many newer varieties, all valued for their exuberant and long bloom, willingness to flower during the hot summer months, and a limitless array of colors and forms.
