A free-blooming stalwart of summer and fall gardens, Rudbeckia has varied species and forms–petite pinwheels, quilled petals, huge double types, and more, all swirling around gum-drop centers of brown or green. Freely blooming, they attract bees, butterflies, and birds and make excellent cut flowers. Finely textured grasses and other black-eyed Susans make good garden companions.
