About

Armour inserts are the fastest way to add certified impact protection to a jacket or pants that shipped with soft foam dummies. This range covers elbow, knee, shoulder, hip and back protectors from Oxford, Armanox, Leatt, LS2 and Fusport, in both CE Level 1 and Level 2 ratings to match the way you ride and the pockets in your kit. CE Level 1 vs CE Level 2 Armour Armour protection is graded under EN 1621-1 for limbs and EN 1621-2 for back protectors. Both ratings cut impact force, but the threshold differs. Level 1 limb armour transmits a maximum of 35 kN under a 50 joule strike, while Level 2 caps transmitted force at 20 kN, so a Level 2 protector passes less than half the energy through to your body. Back protectors follow the same logic: Level 1 allows up to 18 kN, Level 2 up to 9 kN. Spec CE Level 1 CE Level 2 Standard EN 1621-1 EN 1621-1 Limb max transmitted force 35 kN 20 kN Back max transmitted force 18 kN 9 kN Typical thickness 8 to 12 mm 12 to 20 mm Best for City and commuting Sport and touring How To Choose Your Insert Fitment decides everything. Measure the foam pocket in your jacket before buying, since most pockets accept a Type A or Type B profile. Type A suits slimmer, performance fits while Type B covers a wider impact zone for touring. Oxford CE Level 2 back protectors are cut to drop straight into Oxford jackets, removing the guesswork. Armanox runs CE Level 1 and CE Level 2 across elbow, knee, shoulder and hip in both Type A and Type B. For all-day comfort, look for perforated armour with 15 to 30 percent ventilation so heat escapes on summer rides. Match Armour To The Job Run Level 2 at the elbows, shoulders and back where impact is most likely, then add hip protectors for the slide. A set of four limb protectors plus a 9 kN back insert turns a textile shell into AAA-capable kit rated under EN 17092. Pair these inserts with certified outerwear from our textile jacket and Kevlar pants ranges. Related: All Armour · Road Textile Jackets · Road Kevlar
